A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder in the Thursday night shooting of Stanley Bobo in the West Englewood neighborhood.
Bobo, 18, was standing by his car in the 1400 block of West 72nd Street when a van drove past and somebody inside opened fire about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.
Bobo, who lived on the block, was shot in the abdomen area and died about two hours later at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said.
Officers saw the van speeding away and attempted to pull it over. The van did not stop and crashed into several parked cars a few blocks away, police said.
A 17-year-old boy attempted to run away, but officers arrested him nearby. The boy had been shot in the hand and was taken to Christ Medical Center for treatment, police said.
Two handguns and shell casings were recovered from the van, according to a police source, who said it was unclear if the boy shot himself or if he was shot by somebody else in the van.
