Anthony Bradley was ordered held on $1 million bond Friday for allegedly fatally shooting Kenneth Barbour last August in the Woodlawn neighborhood.

Bradley, 23, allegedly exited a black four-door car at 6800 S. St. Lawrence Ave., walked up to Barbour and pulled out a gun at him, Assistant State’s Attorney Alexandra Molesky said. Barbour, 18, allegedly tried to slap the gun out of Bradley's hand, but was shot in the abdomen area at close range after a brief scuffle.

Bradley, of the 4400 block of North Ashland Avenue, then returned to the black vehicle and fled the scene, Molesky said.

One witness standing next to Barbour at the time of the shooting tried to give him first aid, Molesky said. Another person witnessed the shooting from across the street. Witnesses positively identified Bradley as the shooter in a photo array and physical lineup, she said.

Barbour, of the 1600 block of East 85th Street, died about three hours later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

When officers arrested Bradley on May 20, 2014, they found he was found carrying a fully-loaded concealed handgun, police said.

Bradley was charged with one count each of first-degree murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for not having a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card, police said.

On Friday, Judge Donald Panarese Jr. ordered Bradley held on $1 million bond.

A public defender said Bradley is studying to earn a G.E.D. and has three children -- ages 3 months, 4 and 5.

Bradley will be back in court June 10.

Anthony Bradley has been charged with murder for allegedly fatally shooting Kenneth Barbour last August in the Woodlawn neighborhood.

Bradley, 23, allegedly shot Barbour in the abdomen area as the two argued about 8:15 p.m. Aug. 9, 2013, in the 6800 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, authorities said.

Barbour, 18, of the 1600 block of East 85th Street, about three hours later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

When officers arrested Bradley on Tuesday he was armed with a loaded handgun, police said.

Bradley, of the 4400 block of North Ashland Avenue, was charged with one count each of first-degree murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for not having a Firearm Owner's Identification Card, police said.

Bradley is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Saturday.
