Kimberlynn Bolanos | Homicide Watch Chicagohttp://homicides.suntimes.com/suspects/kimberlynn-bolanos/Latest news about Kimberlynn Bolanosen-usFri, 28 Oct 2016 12:15:24 -0500Drug-abusing mother says she fatally stabbed 5-month-old son Isaac Bolanos so state wouldn't take him awayhttp://homicides.suntimes.com/2016/10/28/drug-abusing-mother-says-she-fatally-stabbed-5-month-old-son-isaac-bolanos-so-state-wouldnt-take-him-away/<p>By RUMMANA HUSSAIN<br /> Chicago Sun-Times<br /> <img src="http://wordpress.homicidewatch.org/chicago/files/2016/10/bolanos1026-300x225-300x225.jpg" alt="Kimberlynn Bolanos | Cook County Sheriff&#039;s Dept." width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-21862" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Kimberlynn Bolanos | Cook County Sheriff's Dept.</p><br /> A young mother was sentenced to 38 years in prison Wednesday after she pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the stabbing death of her 5-month-old son <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/isaac-bolanos/">Isaac Bolanos</a>.</p> <p>“To say this case is chilling is an understatement,” Cook County Judge Charles Burns said.</p> <p>Burns noted that <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/suspects/kimberlynn-bolanos/">Kimberlynn Bolanos</a> has suffered from bipolar and obsessive compulsive disorders, and has substance abuse problems.</p> <p>The judge said he believed what happened on May 30, 2013, was an isolated incident and urged the 24-year-old to better her life while she is behind bars.</p> <p>Bolanos admitted to authorities that she stabbed Isaac because she had premonitions something bad would happen to him and was afraid authorities would take the infant away because of her crack cocaine habit, prosecutors said at the time.<br /> <span id="more-21858"></span><br /> <img src="http://wordpress.homicidewatch.org/chicago/files/2016/10/Isaac-225x300.jpg" alt="Isaac Bolanos | photo provided" width="225" height="300" class="size-medium wp-image-21863" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Isaac Bolanos | photo provided</p></p> <p>Bolanos killed the baby while she took him with her into the shower at the Diplomat Hotel in the 5200 block of North Lincoln, prosecutors said Wednesday.</p> <p>Isaac’s father, who was also in the room, asked her if everything was OK and noticed blood on the floor.</p> <p>He asked her to open the door and saw the baby with severe injuries to his head, prosecutors said.</p> <p>The man ran from the room and flagged down police.</p> <p>Isaac was stabbed 30 times in the head, 12 times in the chest, and his throat was slit, prosecutors said.</p> <p>Bolanos, of the 2700 block of West Balmoral, also stabbed herself.</p> Jeff MayesFri, 28 Oct 2016 12:15:24 -0500http://homicides.suntimes.com/2016/10/28/drug-abusing-mother-says-she-fatally-stabbed-5-month-old-son-isaac-bolanos-so-state-wouldnt-take-him-away/Isaac BolanosKimberlynn BolanosMother charged with Thursday stabbing death of 5-month-old boyhttp://homicides.suntimes.com/2013/05/31/mother-charged-with-thursday-stabbing-death-of-5-month-old-boy/<p>A mother is accused of stabbing her 5-month-old boy to death in a North Side motel Thursday, in what a source tells the Sun-Times was a possible murder-suicide attempt.</p> <p>Kimberlynn Bolanos, 21, was charged with one count of first-degree murder for the attack at the motel in the 5200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago Police announced early Friday.<br /> <span id="more-778"></span><br /> Bolanos, who also seriously injured herself during the incident, remains in an area hospital and is not expected to appear in court until her release, police said.</p> <p>Authorities summoned to the motel about 10:30 a.m. found both mother and son with severe stab wounds, authorities said.</p> <p>Five-month-old Issac Bolanos was taken to Swedish Convenant Hospital, where he died from multiple stab wounds at 10:55 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>The elder Bolanos, of the 2700 block of West Balmoral Avenue, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, Chicago Police said.</p> <p>On Thursday afternoon, crime tape blocked off the motel room as police investigated the scene, a site that surprised Alex Ramirez as he arrived for work.</p> <p>Ramirez, who is painting the exterior of the motel, said he saw the woman and her child Wednesday.</p> <p>“She seemed happy,” he told the Sun-Times on Thursday.</p> <p>Kai Muldreaux, 22, of Griffith, Ind., said he was staying next to the room where it happened — and didn’t know there was a problem until he looked out the window and saw all the police activity.
