Linn found her guilty of the lesser offense on Nov. 12, 2014, according to court records. It was not immediately known why the charges were reduced.</p> <p>Linn sentenced her to five years in prison on Jan. 7.</p> <p>Lonika Welch had been held at Cook County Jail on $500,000 bond and was given credit for 733 days served, according to court records.</p> <p>She was admitted to the Logan Correctional Center in downstate Lincoln on Jan. 14 and is projected to be paroled on June 24, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.</p> Michael LansuTue, 20 Jan 2015 15:09:46 -0600http://homicides.suntimes.com/2015/01/20/lonika-welch-sentenced-to-5-years-in-prison-for-stabbing-her-mother-to-death/Angela WelchLonika WelchDaughter suspected in mother's deathhttp://homicides.suntimes.com/2013/04/05/daughter-suspected-in-mothers-death-2/<p><b>Chicago Sun-Times (IL)</b> - Sunday, January 6, 2013</p> <p>A 25-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday, suspected of fatally stabbing her mother during a domestic dispute in the South Chicago neighborhood.</p> <p>Authorities found the 55-year-old mother had been stabbed multiple times when they responded to her home in the 8300 block of South Kingston Avenue about 6:45 p.m. Saturday night, authorities said.</p> <p>Paramedics took Angela Welch to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.</p> <p>Lonika Welch, her daughter and a suspect in the slaying, initially fled but was taken into police custody early Sunday, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
