Harvey</a>, 36, pleaded guilty to one felony count of aggravated DUI in an accident causing death before Judge Dennis Porter on July 19, according to Cook County court records. Harvey told police he attempted to regain control, but swerved too hard left and crashed into a median, prosecutors said.</p> <p>Peterson, of the 300 block of 23rd Avenue in Bellwood, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:55 a.m. that day, authorities said. An autopsy found she died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen as a result of the crash, and ruled her death an accident.</p> <p>Her 2-year-old son, who was in the backseat, was not seriously injured.</p> <p>Harvey told police after the crash that he drank a few beers earlier that evening at a Thanksgiving party, prosecutors said. He had a blood alcohol content of .135.</p> <p>Judge Porter sentenced Harvey to three years in prison, according to court records. He will receive credit for 235 days served in the Cook County Jail. And a man is facing reckless homicide charges for a 12th death caused by what prosecutors called a DUI crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway.</p> <p>A man was fatally shot Sunday night in the Englewood. <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/jimmy-jenkins/">Jimmy Jenkins</a>, 28, was found unresponsive at 7:55 p.m. in a gangway in the 900 block of West 59th Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>Jenkins, who lived in the 5900 block of South Morgan Street, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:16 p.m., authorities said.<br /> <span id="more-14530"></span></p> <p>A man was killed and his girlfriend injured in a shooting earlier Sunday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.</p> <p>Family members identified the man as 27-year-old <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/maurice-jackson/">Maurice Jackson</a>, who had been living in Minneapolis for three years, but came back to the neighborhood in which he grew up to spend Thanksgiving with his family.</p> <p>The father of three, whose youngest daughter is three months old, was supposed to head back to Minnesota later Sunday.</p> <p>About 12:20 a.m., the couple was sitting in a parked car in the 5300 block of South Union when a male exited a dark-colored car nearby and opened fire, according to police.</p> <p>The Dodge sped southbound on Union, struck a fire hydrant and then crashed into a tree in the 700 block of West Garfield, police said.</p> <p>Jackson was shot in the left side of his body, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:15 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>The 32-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the left hip and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was stabilized, police said.</p> <p>A southwest suburban man was stabbed to death Saturday night in West Pullman. <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/antone-l-sims/">Antone L. Sims</a>, 28, was arguing with a woman about 11:10 p.m. in a first-floor apartment in the 11500 block of South Perry Avenue, when she stabbed him in the chest with a knife, then ran away, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>Sims, of the 100 block of West Devoe Drive in Oswego, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 12:17 a.m., authorities said.</p> <p>The relationship of the two was not known and no one was in custody as of Monday.</p> <p><a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/carlos-romo/">Carlos Romo</a> was shot to death in the Little Village neighborhood late Saturday.</p> <p>Romo, 32, was found unresponsive in a parked van about 8:55 p.m. in the 2700 block of West 24th Street, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He was shot in the chest, police said.</p> <p>Romo, who lived on the same block as the shooting, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m.</p> <p>A 26-year-old man was shot to death in the West Englewood neighborhood earlier Saturday evening.</p> <p>Just after 5 p.m., <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/tyris-washington/">Tyris Washington</a> was in the backyard of a home in the 6600 block of South Marshfield when someone got out of a vehicle, walked up and started shooting, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>He suffered wounds to the abdomen and hand, and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., authorities said.</p> <p>A man was fatally shot Friday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.</p> <p><a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/hommy-vega/">Hommy Vega</a>, 36, was sitting in a vehicle about 1:20 p.m. in the 0-100 block of North Hamlin Boulevard when someone fired shots, hitting him in the right side of the chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>Vega, of the 1300 block of West Chicago Avenue, was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:58 p.m.</p> <p>A man died about four hours after being shot in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood early Friday.</p> <p><a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/christopher-williams/">Christopher Williams</a>, 31, was walking in the 7800 block of South Maryland about 1:30 a.m. when a male suspect got out of an SUV and shot him several times, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>Williams, of the 800 block of East 78th Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 5 a.m.</p> <p>A Thanksgiving Day shooting left <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/jontaye-walker/">Jontaye Walker</a> dead in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side.</p> <p>Walker, 23, was standing outside in the 2200 block of West Thome Avenue about 1:15 p.m. when someone got out of a vehicle nearby, walked up and opened fire, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>Police said the shooter then jumped back into the dark green minivan, which sped away northbound.</p> <p>Walker, of the 6200 block of North Bell Avenue, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:29 p.m., authorities said.</p> <p>A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot Wednesday night in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.</p> <p>Just before midnight, two people walked up to <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/mysean-dunning/">Mysean Dunning</a> near his home in the 3300 block of West Van Buren Street and shot him in the head, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>He was dead at the scene, authorities said.</p> <p><a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/kenneth-noble/">Kenneth Noble</a> was killed and another man wounded in a shooting early Wednesday in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.</p> <p>The men were getting into a van about 2:30 a.m. in the 5700 block of South Morgan when someone in another vehicle shot at them, police said.</p> <p>The older man, identified as the 59-year-old Noble, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene at 2:56 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Noble lived in the 11000 block of South Wentworth.</p> <p>The younger man, 34, was shot in the shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.</p> <p>The week's first fatal shooting happened Monday evening in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.</p> <p>About 6 p.m., 24-year-old <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/george-carrero/">George Carrero</a> was walking in the 5600 block of West Byron when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot, according to police and the medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>Carrero, who lived in the 3500 block of North Linder Avenue, was shot in the back and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.</p> <p>The fatal crash about 12:30 a.m. Friday in the northbound lanes of the Dan Ryan near 31st Street left 29-year-old Chalan V.
