A North Lawndale area man asked to leave a birthday party at a South Side bar for grabbing an employee’s buttocks returned minutes later and opened fire on unarmed patrons -- killing one man and wounding four others, prosecutors said.

Parrish Davis, 30, of the 1100 block of South Richmond Street, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm for a Jan. 25 shooting at Rudy’s Lounge in the 5100 block of South Union Street that killed Elsaleem Mannie-El, authorities said.

Bar security escorted Davis, his brother and a friend out of the establishment after Davis grabbed the buttocks of an employee and began arguing with patrons, Assistant State’s Attorney Jamie Santini said.

Davis and his brother crossed 51st Street, but Davis returned to the bar with a 40-caliber handgun “with an extended clip” and opened fire on the crowded lounge, Santini said. Four men and a woman were wounded in the shooting.

Mannie-El, 35, of the 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue, was shot in the head and died less than an hour later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, authorities said.

A 40-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the head, a 37-year-old man was shot in the neck, another 37-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the arm and a 34-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the neck, police said. All four survived.

Davis and his brother fled after the shooting, but the attack was captured on video from outside the bar, Santini said.

Confidential informants working the FBI and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration identified Davis as the shooter and he was positively identified in photo arrays, Santini said. He was arrested following a March 11 court appearance on an unrelated possession of more than 900 grams of cocaine charge.

On Thursday, Davis appeared before Judge Donald Panarese wearing a white jacket, blue jeans and white shoes. He was ordered held without bond and will be back in court April 1.

Davis lives with his parents and has eight siblings and two children, his attorney said. He is a graduate of South Shore International College Prep High School and worked at a food-packaging warehouse.
