Antonio Valentine died Oct. 31 from injuries he suffered when he was shot in the head Aug. 1 in the North Lawndale community. Reader "Vince" posted this about this killing:

I hope the people involved in this crime are caught. Poor guy probably suffered the past 3 months because of what was done to him. Sure need God's Kingdom so we can have some peace on this earth!

Antonio Valentine dies after North Lawndale beating

Antonio Valentine has died from injuries he suffered during an assault in the North Lawndale neighborhood nearly three months ago.

Valentine, 34, was hit in head about 11:45 p.m. Aug. 1 in the 1900 block of South Kildare Avenue, authorities said.

He suffered swelling to the side of the face and head, and was initially taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.

Valentine, of the 6000 block of South Winchester Avenue, had been in hospice care when he died Oct. 31 at 4:18 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

A Wednesday autopsy determined he died of complications from the assault and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

Nobody has been charged for the attack.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
