22-year-old Deangelo Martin fatally shot while standing with group of people in Englewood

Deangelo Martin was fatally shot early Sunday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Shortly before 2 a.m., the 22-year-old was standing with a group of people in the 7300 block of South Yale. Gunfire erupted and Martin was shot multiple times in the neck, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A friend took him to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:52 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 8100 block of South Coles.
