Grayson Langdon, murdered in South Shore in 2015, named suspect in 2013 murder at Lil Wayne concert in Charlotte

Grayson Langdon, who was shot to death in the South Shore neighborhood last fall, was responsible for a fatal stabbing outside a Lil Wayne concert in Charlotte, N.C., in 2013, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

At a press press conference Friday, police said Langdon killed James Price as he was leaving a concert in 2013 at the former Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, WBTV in Charlotte is reporting.

A verbal altercation led to a fight in the parking lot, the 25-year-old Price was trying to protect his girlfriend when he was stabbed, according to police.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Langdon was a suspect in the case for some time, but there was never enough evidence until recently.

But Langdon will never be charged or stand trial for the murder.

About 7:10 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2016, officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 7200 block of South Phillips Avenue found the 25-year-old unresponsive on the ground, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said at the time.

Langdon had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

The victim’s father is the Rev. Dennis C. Landgon of Morgan Park United Methodist Church, one of the founders of the Thou Shalt Not Murder campaign, which kicked off with a campaign calling for no murders on Easter 2016. A man shot to death in the South Shore neighborhood Sunday night has been identified as Grayson Langdon, son of the Far South Side pastor who founded the Thou Shalt Not Murder campaign.

About 7:10 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 7200 block of South Phillips Avenue and found the 25-year-old unresponsive on the ground, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Langdon had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 7600 block of South Cregier.

The victim's father is the Rev. Dennis C. Landgon of Morgan Park United Methodist Church. He was one of the founders of the Thou Shalt Not Murder campaign, which kicked off with a relatively successful campaign calling for no murders on Easter last March.

The event was called a success as no one was murdered in Chicago on Easter Sunday.

At the time, Langdon told Homicide Watch Chicago: “We’re looking to the people of Chicago to take responsibility for themselves and the people living in their communities, and say it’s unacceptable for this type of behavior to keep happening. Even if it's only for a day, it will prove we have the ability to say no to violence in our city.”
