David Morris charged, held on no bond in fatal stabbing of Jaquinton Walker

David Morris was charged in a South Shore neighborhood attack Friday that left Jaquinton Walker fatally stabbed and two other men hurt.

Morris, 25, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery, according to Chicago Police and was held on no bond by judge Laura Sullivan at a hearing on Monday.

Police discovered three men with stab wounds Friday in a second-floor hallway in the 7800 block of South Bennett Avenue about 7:15 p.m., police said.

Walker, 27, of the 6100 block of South Laflin Street, suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:10 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

As news of Walker's death spread, friends and family took to social media to express their condolences:

A 41-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and legs, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said. And a 32-year-old man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in “stable” condition with a stab wound to the hip.

Morris was arrested Saturday, police said, though a motive for the attack was not given.

He will next appear in court April 11, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
