Jasmin Salas | Homicide Watch Chicagohttp://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/jasmin-salas/Latest news about Jasmin Salasen-usSat, 12 Oct 2013 16:24:55 -0500Man held without bond for pregnant girlfriend’s murderhttp://homicides.suntimes.com/2013/10/12/man-held-without-bond-for-pregnant-girlfriends-murder/<p>A Chicago man was ordered held without bond Saturday for allegedly stabbing his child’s mother to death and dumping the woman’s body in a west suburban forest preserve.</p> <p>Justino Correa stabbed 20-year-old Jasmin Salas repeatedly in the basement of his home, in the 1000 block of North Richmond, then put a plastic bag over her head, Cook County prosecutors said.He then took the couple’s four-year-old daughter upstairs to watch TV and later took the child to school before putting Salas’ body in a garbage bag and in a plastic bin, prosecutors said.</p> <p>Correa allegedly took the body in a truck to River Forest in a wooded area near the 8100 block of West Chicago Avenue.</p> <p>Correa injured his hand during the stabbing and went to get treated at Norwegian-American Hospital, which is across from his home, authorities said.</p> <p>He first told police he suffered a cut on his hand after he got into a fight with Salas, prosecutors said. But then he allegedly admitted he murdered her after an argument turned physical.Correa, 19, told police where the body was located, prosecutors said.</p> <p>When prosecutors mentioned Salas was four-months-pregnant when she was killed, some of her family members who attended the brief court hearing gasped.</p> <p>Correa appeared in court in a hoodie, sweatpants and a cast on his right arm.</p> <p>He has no criminal history and had just been accepted to Wright College to study radiology, his private attorney Richard Blass said.</p> Brian SlodyskoSat, 12 Oct 2013 16:24:55 -0500http://homicides.suntimes.com/2013/10/12/man-held-without-bond-for-pregnant-girlfriends-murder/Jasmin SalasJustino Correa
