Jeremiah Moore | Homicide Watch Chicagohttp://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/jeremiah-moore/Latest news about Jeremiah Mooreen-usMon, 10 Jun 2013 07:07:38 -05002 killed, at least 17 wounded in weekend shootingshttp://homicides.suntimes.com/2013/06/10/2-killed-at-least-17-wounded-in-weekend-shootings/<p>Two people were killed and at least 17 others were hurt in shootings across the city since Friday afternoon, including two people shot when gunfire erupted near a passing ambulance -- forcing paramedics to take cover and call for help.</p> <p>The West Side shooting happened at 12:26 a.m. Saturday in the 3400 block of West Lake Street, near the Green Line “L” tracks and Garfield Park, authorities said.<br /> <span id="more-874"></span><br /> An ambulance happened to be headed westbound on Lake Street at that time, and noticed some people crouching down behind cover, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.</p> <p>But when the paramedics heard gunshots, they realized they were approaching crossfire. They ducked and got to a safe place before calling for police backup, Langford said.</p> <p>The shooting left one person shot in the head, and another shot in the chest, Langford said. The paramedics who saw the shooting, along with help from a second ambulance crew, took them to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.</p> <p>Jeremiah Moore, 24, who had been shot in the head, died at Stroger Hospital at 11:42 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. A home address for Moore had not been released as of Sunday morning.</p> <p>The person shot in the chest, a male believed to be in his late teens or early twenties, was critically injured, authorities said.</p> <p>No fire department officials were hurt, and no bullets hit the ambulance.</p> <p>The most recent fatal shooting occurred early Sunday on Interstate 94 just south of 71st Street, state police said.</p> <p>Three people were travelling southbound in a car when two of them were shot between 1 and 1:10 a.m. A man was killed and a female was being treated in “stable” condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for a gunshot wound to the chest, state police said.</p> <p>The man, identified as Fredrick Taylor, 27, of the 14000 block of South Atlantic Avenue in Riverdale, was pronounced dead at Christ at 3:14 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.</p> <p>A second male in the vehicle was unharmed, according to state police.</p> <p>The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear, state police said.</p> <p>The most recent non-fatal shooting happened Sunday night in the Austin neighborhood.</p> <p>A 30-year-old man was shot in the chest and arm, and suffered a graze wound to the head, in the 5200 block of West Quincy Street, police said. He was taken in serious condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, but was transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.</p> <p>Sunday morning, a man was shot in the West Side Garfield Park neighborhood.</p> <p>A 32-year-old man was shot in the hand in the 4000 block of West Washington Boulevard about 3:40 a.m., according to Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.</p> <p>He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in “stable” condition, Greer said.</p> <p>About 9 p.m. Saturday, a 23-year-old man was shot twice in the left thigh in the 6500 block of South Loomis Boulevard, police said.</p> <p>He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.</p> <p>About 2:20 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg at 2:18 p.m. in the 700 block of North Menard Avenue, police said. He drove himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was listed in good condition.</p> <p>A shooting early Saturday in the Little Village left two men wounded. The shooting happened about 4 a.m. in the 3800 block of West 28th Street and left one man shot in the leg and another man shot in the foot. Police had previously given the location of this shooting as the 3500 block of West 28th Street.</p> <p>About 12:05 a.m., a 23-year-old male was shot in the buttocks in the Roseland neighborhood, police said. The man was standing in a back yard in the 10600 block of South Lafayette Avenue when an unknown male approached and opened fire, police said. He was taken to Roseland Hospital.</p> <p>In a shooting Friday evening, three to five people were wounded during a shooting in West Englewood.</p> <p>The shooting happened about 6:50 p.m. in the 1700 block of West 59th Street. Paramedics took one man with multiple gunshot wounds to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and another man to Holy Cross Hospital in good to fair condition, Fire Media Affairs officials said. Police said both of those men were in their 20s.</p> <p>Police said a third person showed up at Holy Cross Hospital in with a gunshot wound to the lower leg. Fire officials said two more people may have shown up at Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds from the same incident.</p> <p>In the Gage Park neighborhood, a man was critically wounded in a possible drive-by shooting about 8:15 p.m. Friday, police said. The 19-year-old was shot multiple times in the chest and back near South Albany Avenue and West 54th Street and listed in critical condition late Friday.</p> <p>A man with gang affiliations was critically wounded in the Uptown neighborhood about 8 p.m. Police said the 29-year-old man was shot multiple times, including in the mouth, in the 4500 block of North Magnolia Avenue, near Truman College. He was taken in critical condition to Illinois Masonic. Ald. James Cappleman (46th) reported the shooting was possibly gang-related.</p> <p>In the Austin neighborhood, a male was shot in the ankle about 7:30 p.m. in the 200 block of South Lavergne Avenue.</p> <p>Earlier, about 3:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was standing in the 5000 block of West Henderson Street on the Northwest Side when a white SUV approached and a person got out and shot him. The teen is a purported gang member who was shouting gang slogans at the passing SUV, which contained rival gang members, a police source said.</p> <p>The boy was shot in the leg and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in good condition, police said.</p> <p>No one was in custody but detectives were looking for a group of Hispanic men in a white SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Blazer.</p> <p>In the South Shore neighborhood, a teenage boy was shot in the arm about 1:50 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 75th Street.
