WEEK IN REVIEW: Four die last week from shootings in Chicago

Three men and a teenage boy died last week after being shot in Chicago.

The most recent murder happened in the Albany Park neighborhood when two males shot 17-year-old Dante Mondragon in the 3700 block of West Lawrence Avenue about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Mondragon, of the 4700 block of North Central Park Avenue, was shot in the upper back and died on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

In the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, a group of males approached 39-year-old http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/fredrick-ollie/ as he stood on a sidewalk in the 600 block of West 89th Street and somebody in the group shot him about 6:20 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Ollie, of the 8900 block of South Union Avenue, died at 7:11 p.m. Saturday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the medical examiner’s office.

On Monday in the Chatham neighborhood, police responding to a report of shots fired found Jonathan Neal, 23, on a sidewalk in the 8300 block of South Ellis Avenue about 3:15 p.m., authorities said.

Neal died at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn about an hour later from a gunshot wound to the torso, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Additionally, a second man shot in a car Oct. 14 in the 300 block of East 82nd Street in Chatham died on Saturday.

Robert Murphy III, 30, of the 7900 block of South Escanaba Avenue, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the medical examiner's office. Anthony Williamson, 49, of the 8700 block of South Ashland Avenue, died on the scene shortly after the shooting.

Authorities said Terry "T-Bone" Burnett walked up the black Chevrolet Impala Murphy was driving and shot both men in the car about 8:50 a.m. Oct. 14. Burnett was charged in Williamson's murder on Wednesday and is being held without bond at the Cook County Jail.

Jonathan Neal shot dead in Chatham

Jonathan Neal was shot dead on a Chatham neighborhood sidewalk Monday afternoon on the South Side.

Police responding to a report of shots fired found Neal, 23, dead on a sidewalk in the 8300 block of South Ellis Avenue about 3:15 p.m. Monday, authorities said.

Neal was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was declared dead about an hour later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. His home address was not immediately available.

A Tuesday autopsy determined Neal died of a gunshot wound to the torso and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area South detectives are investigating.
