Chicago recorded one murder in the past week -- the fewest in any week this year.

The city also went more than 133 hours between violent deaths, the longest stretch of 2014.

The only killing happened when 39-year-old Lavita Jones was shot multiple times in her home in the 8800 block of South May Street about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Jones was initially taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said. She died at the hospital Friday evening.

Nobody has been charged in her murder.

March started with a flurry of violence as four men were murdered in the first two days. Jones is the only person killed since.

Chicago had 15 murders in March 2013 and 53 in March 2012.

Overall, the medical examiner's office has ruled 50 Chicago deaths in 2014 homicides -- including two people killed by police. Chicago Police, which counts murders different, has ruled at least three of those deaths involuntary manslaughter or justified self-defense.

Lavita Jones died Friday afternoon, two days after being shot multiple times at her Auburn Gresham home.

Lavita Jones, 39, was shot in the back multiple times at her home in the 8800 block of South May Street about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Jones was initially taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said. She died at the hospital at 4:49 p.m. Friday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Nobody has been charged in the murder.

Area South detectives are investigating.
