Shooter on bicycle kills Malcolm Willie just blocks from his Austin home

Malcolm Willie was fatally shot just blocks from his home in the West Side Austin neighborhood last week.

The 21-year-old was outside in the 4900 block of West Hubbard about 7:50 p.m. July 15 when someone riding a bicycle shot him several times, Chicago Police said.

Willie, of the 500 block of North Lavergne, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 9 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

His name was not made public for over a week because officials said they were having trouble locating family members for notification.
