Teen killed, four others wounded, when shots fired into car

A woman was killed and four other people were wounded early Tuesday in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, police said.

Five people were driving together on the South Side in the 7300 block of South King Drive about 2:30 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up alongside them and opened fire into their vehicle, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

An 18-year-old woman was shot in the head and was dead on the scene, authorities said. She was identified as Marissa Boyd-Stangley of the 7400 block of South Eberhart Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

A 20-year-old man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. A man and a woman, both 18, were taken to Jackson Park Hospital with gunshot wounds to their hands, and a 20-year-old man who was shot in the shoulder was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center in “stable” condition, police said.

Nobody was in custody Tuesday morning as Area Central detectives investigated.
