I had to do it. He was following me," Assistant State’s Attorney Yolanda Lippert said.<br /> <span id="more-9733"></span><br /> <iframe src="http://homicides.suntimes.com/api/v1/homicides/63.html" width="100%" height="350" frameborder=0></iframe></p> <p>Jackson, 47, has a Chicago Police officer brother. His other brother, George Jackson III, a former federal prosecutor, was one of two lawyers representing him during his jury trial this week before Judge Stanley Sacks. </p> <p>George Jackson III said his brother only went after the 37-year-old Mixon because Mixon tried to rob him. Anthony Jackson also felt a metal object through a bag Mixon carried, and assumed it was a gun, the defense attorney reminded jurors.</p> <p>Prosecutors rejected claims that Mixon put his hand in Antony Jackson’s pocket or gave him any other reason to lash out to defend himself.</p> <p>It was Anthony Jackson who started the physical contact by punching Mixon in the head after asking Mixon, "Hey why are you looking at me like that?" It’s test week at DePaul and he’s concerned about missing them,” Placek said Wednesday urging Judge Israel Desierto to give Jackson a low bond.</p> <p>Desierto ordered Jackson, 45, held in lieu of $500,000 bail as his lawyer brother, George Jackson III, looked on.</p> <p>The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Jackson is accused of stomping on Mixon in what prosecutors said was an unprovoked attack in the 300 block of East 43rd Street.</p> <p>But Jackson’s brother told the Sun-Times that Mixon , who has a history of mental illness, prompted the interaction with Jackson as he tried to make his way to DePaul.</p> <p>“He [Jackson] was texting a friend over his inability to meet because he had to study when Mr. Mixon initiated contact,” George Jackson III said.</p> <p>Prosecutors had a different story.</p> <p>They said it was Jackson who started the physical contact by punching Mixon in the head after the two strangers started talking on the platform as they waited for the “L.”</p> <p>Jackson eventually knocked Mixon to the ground and started stomping and jumping on his head with both feet, assistant state’s attorney Stephanie Buck said. Mixon never hit Jackson, Buck said.</p> <p>Jackson allegedly took several short breaks before attacking the victim again as other CTA passengers screamed and called 911.</p> <p>Jackson has a 1987 battery conviction in McLean County.</p> John CarpenterWed, 10 Apr 2013 15:58:00 -0500http://homicides.suntimes.com/2013/04/10/suspect-in-green-line-stomping-death-has-cop-ex-prosecutor-in-family/Sanchez MixonAnthony JacksonCTA beating victim dieshttp://homicides.suntimes.com/2013/04/05/cta-beating-victim-dies/ <strong>Chicago Sun-Times (IL) - Monday, March 18, 2013</strong> Author/Byline: MICHAEL LANSU Staff Reporter <span style="color: #444444;">One man was beaten to death at a CTA station, a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot and at least 15 other people were wounded in separate acts of violence across the city this weekend. </span> The first homicide occurred on the platform of the 43rd Street CTA Green Line station Saturday morning, police said.</p> <p>Sanchez Mixon , 37, was mortally wounded during a fight with another man on the train platform about 11:30 a.m., police said. He died less than an hour later, authorities said.
