When Harris reached for the gun, Dixon shot him in the chest area, prosecutors said.<br /> <span id="more-9981"></span><br /> <iframe src="http://homicides.suntimes.com/api/v1/homicides/888.html" width="100%" height="350" frameborder=0></iframe></p> <p>After the shooting, Dixon's acquaintance ran to the front of the house and told a friend what happened, prosecutors said.</p> <p>Terrence Harris, of the 9200 block of South Elizabeth Avenue, was declared dead minutes later, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>Dixon ran away after the shooting, but the person who drove Harris to the drug deal gave chase, prosecutors said.</p> <p>The driver gave up the pursuit and called 911. After talking to detectives, the driver went home but soon saw Dixon "creeping out from between the houses," prosecutors said.</p> <p>The driver exited the vehicle, and Dixon yelled, "It wasn't me," then ran away, prosecutors said.</p> <p>Dixon's acquaintance voluntarily went to the police station and told detectives about the robbery and the shooting, prosecutors said. The driver confirmed Dixon's acquaintance did not match the description of the man he chased after the shooting.</p> <p>Phone records indicate Dixon and his acquaintance texted numerous times about the drug deal and that Dixon later called the acquaintance after the murder, prosecutors said.</p> <p>A warrant was issued for Dixon's arrest, and he was taken into custody Jan. 24 in a hotel in Madison, Wis., prosecutors said.</p> <p>Dixon, 23, of the 3500 block of West 83rd Place, was charged with murder and armed robbery charges, police said. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was declared dead about an hour later, authorities said.</p> <p>On Saturday, officers responding to a call of a shots fired found 18-year-old <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/bernard-pippen/">Bernard Pippen</a> shot in the neck in the 9600 block of South Green Street in the Auburn Gresham community about 6:50 p.m., authorities said.</p> <p>Pippen, of the 11000 block of South State Street, died at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>A 15-year-old boy has been charged for the murder and is expected in bond court later Monday.</p> <p>In the North Lawndale community, 24-year-old <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/cornelius-hunter/">Cornelius Hunter</a> was in a vehicle in the 1200 block of South Pulaski Road when a gunman in another vehicle shot him about 12:45 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.</p> <p>Hunter, of the 1700 block of North Luna Avenue, was shot in the chest and leg, authorities said. He died hours later at Mount Sinai Hospital.</p> <p>On Friday, 17-year-old <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/walter-wright/">Walter Wright</a> was in the 5800 block of South Western Avenue in the Gage Park community when a gunman approached and shot him in the chest about 7:30 p.m., authorities said.</p> <p>Wright, of the 5300 block of South May Street, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was declared dead later that day, according to the medical examiner's office.</p> <p>On Wednesday, 24-year-old <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/terrence-harris/">Terrence Harris</a> was walking through a gangway in the 8100 block of South Artesian Avenue in the Ashburn neighborhood when two males approached opened fire at 5:22 p.m., authorities said.</p> <p>Harris, of the 9200 block of South Elizabeth Street, was shot several times and died minutes later at University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the medical examiner’s office.</p> <p>On Tuesday, 16-year-old <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/terrell-campbell/">Terrell Campbell</a> was walking through a vacant lot in the 300 block of East Pershing Road in the Grand Boulevard when two gunmen approached and opened fire about 9:50 p.m., authorities said.</p> <p>Campbell, of the 8800 block of South Wabash Avenue, was shot in the abdomen, chest and legs, authorities said. He was declared dead a short time later at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office.</p> <p>The killing started when 31-year-old <a href="http://homicides.suntimes.com/victims/rene-arredondo/">Rene Arredondo</a> was shot in the head in the 4200 block of South Rockwell Street in the Brighton Park community about 5 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. The shooting happened near Shield Elementary School.</p> <p>Arredondo, of the 4500 block of South Rockwell Street, died later that day at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the medical examiner’s office.
