Arrell Monagan , 16, was standing in a gangway with two friends in the Gage Park neighborhood when he was shot dead Saturday night, police said. He was shot multiple times about 7 p.m. in the 2400 block of West 58th Street, authorities said.
Monagan was struck in the back and left shoulder, police said. The group attempted to run away, but Monagan collapsed to the ground.
Paramedics took Monagan , of the 7900 block of South Escanaba, to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was declared dead at 8:23 p.m., authorities said.
Police said they believe Monagan had gang affiliations, but have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
