A south suburban Alsip man has been charged in connection with the Friday night shooting death of a man outside a South Chicago neighborhood home, police said.

Brandon Ewing, 24, was charged with one count of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Kevin Sanders late Friday night, police said

Police said they found Sanders, 34, outside the home, in the 8700 block of South Burley Avenue, with multiple gunshot wounds in the chest. Sanders, of the 8900 block of South Mackinaw Avenue, was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital where he died at midnight, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro declined to describe Ewing’s role in the 34-year-old man’s death. But, Alfaro said, about 11:10 p.m. Friday Sanders and at least one other man went outside after getting into an argument inside the home. In an ensuing exchange of gunfire, Sanders was shot to death, police said.

Ewing, of the 3700 block of West 119th Street, was also shot in the dispute and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital for medical care, police said. A weapon was recovered at the scene.

Ewing is scheduled to appear in bond court Monday.
