Chatham woman stabbed last month in domestic incident dies

A woman stabbed during a domestic fight last month in the South Side Chatham neighborhood has died, authorities said.

On March 24, Dowanda Williams, 44, was stabbed multiple times in her home in the 500 block of East 82nd Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police responded about 5:20 p.m. and found two people had been stabbed during a domestic fight, police said at the time.

A 59-year-old man was also hurt in the confrontation, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in “stable” condition for stab wounds to the abdomen, police said.

Williams died Tuesday at 4:42 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Chicago Police could not immediately say Tuesday evening if anyone has been charged in the attack.

Area South detectives are investigating.
