A 30-year-old man was shot and killed as he stood on the street in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood Thursday night.
About 10:30 p.m. Thursday, the man was standing on the sidewalk in the 6300 block of South Francisco Avenue when another male walked up and fired several shots at him, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
The man, George Anderson, of an unknown address, was struck in the head by the gunfire and he was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. The medical examiner’s office said Anderson was 29 years old, but police said his 30th birthday was last month.
Area South detectives are investigating.
