A man was fatally shot while sitting in a car on the South Side Wednesday afternoon.
The man was sitting in a car when the shooting occurred at 87th and Loomis streets about 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.
William Jones, 26, of the 7800 block of South Emerald Avenue, was declared dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
A Thursday autopsy determined Jones died of multiple gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Area South detectives are investigating.
