A man was shot dead in the East Garfield Park neighborhood Thursday afternoon on the West Side, police said.
The man, 21-year-old Steve Mabins of the 2000 block of West Washington Street was shot in his side multiple times about 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of South Francisco Avenue in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, authorities said.
He was initially taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
