Man dies 6 days after West Side shooting

A man who was shot last Friday on the West Side died Thursday morning.

The shooting occurred at 12:51 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Roosevelt Road on July 26, police said.

Andrew Turner, 23, died at Mount Sinai Hospital about 9:34 a.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Turner, of the 1100 block of South Independence Boulevard, was originally taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai with a gunshot wound to the jaw. Police said he had gang affiliations.

No one is in custody and Area North detectives are investigating.
