Omar Castle shot dead on South Side

A teenage boy was fatally shot in the head early Friday in the South Side McKinley Park neighborhood.

Officers heard gunshots near the 3600 block of South Marshfield Avenue about 12:15 a.m. and found the boy unresponsive in the street, police said.

Omar Castle, 17, was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:22 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The shooting is thought to be gang-related, police said. Area Central detectives are investigating.
