A 26-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday night in the West Englewood neighborhood.
The 26-year-old, who has not yet been identified, was walking down a sidewalk in the 1600 block of West 59th Street when a male gunman opened fire about 9:15 p.m., said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
The man, who was not conscious when first responders arrived, was struck by a bullet in the back of his head, police said.
He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead a short while later, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed.
No one was in custody while Area South detectives investigated.
