A teenage boy involved in a fight Monday outside a Washington Park home returned for blood two days later. He wounded the teen he’d been fighting with, but killed a second boy, who was not involved in the original fight, prosecutors said.
Devin Skipper, 16, rode a bicycle down the 5100 block of South Calumet Avenue and opened fire on a group standing in front of a home about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to court documents.
Geanni Boyd, 16, of the 0-99 block of East 99th Place, was shot multiple times and died at 12:02 a.m. Thursday at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. The death was ruled a homicide.
A 15-year-old boy suffered a graze wound to the hand and was treated on the scene, authorities said. Both teens who were shot are documented gang members, though Boyd was not involved in the original fight, police said.
Just two days earlier, Skipper and an acquaintance got into a fight with the 15-year-old and his brother outside the home, according to court documents. Police responded to the fight and Skipper was identified as being involved, but others involved in the altercation declined to press charges and he was released.
After he returned two days later and fatally shot Boyd, another member of the group in front of the home identified him in a photo array and a physical lineup, according to court documents.
Skipper, of the 5800 block of South Calumet Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder and Judge Adam D. Bourgeois ordered him held without bond on Friday.

We understand the reality of the public’s demand for news - that some stories get more attention than others. But all murders represent a degree of human suffering - direct and indirect - that cannot be ignored. Read more…
