Saul Salgado killed in Belmont Cragin shooting

Saul Salgado was shot and killed in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood early Friday on the Northwest Side.

Salgado, 21, was driving a vehicle that stopped at a red light in the 5600 block of West Fullerton Avenue about 4:05 a.m., authorities said.

Another vehicle pulled up alongside, and somebody inside opened fire, police said.

Salgado, of the 2100 block of North Laramie Avenue, was shot multiple times and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 4:40 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A passenger in the vehicle was not injured, police said.
