A man kidnapped about a week ago was found shot dead Monday afternoon in a West Englewood stairwell.
Sources said the man’s friend was found shot to death in a stairwell less than two miles away last week, and authorities believe the deaths are related.
Officers found 18-year-old Aaron Hubbard dead in a stairwell in the 5900 block of South Winchester Avenue about 3:30 p.m. Monday, authorities said. Hubbard was shot multiple times and the death was ruled a homicide.
Investigators believe Hubbard was kidnapped and was reported missing about a week ago, a police source said.
Authorities said Hubbard’s death was related to the death of Corderro Brown. The police source said the two were friends.
Brown, of the 5700 block of South Ada Street, was found Nov. 3 in a back stairwell 1.5 miles away in the 6500 block of South Bishop Street, authorities said. He died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide.
Authorities said both men are believed to have been shot in the same incident more than a week ago, but could not provide a specific date or location.
Area South detectives are investigating, but nobody has been charged in the murders.
