Trevonti Carson charged in killing of Devorite Diggins

Trevonti Carson has been charged with murder for allegedly fatally shooting Devorite Diggins at an Englewood gas station last week, police said.

Carson, 26, is accused of killing Diggins and wounding another man during a shooting last Wednesday at a gas station in the 800 block of West 59th Street, authorities said.

Diggins, 21, of the 6200 block of South Aberdeen Street, was dead on the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The other man, 21, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Carson, of the 5700 block of South Green Street, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, according to police. He is scheduled to appear in bond court later Monday.
