A Naperville man was charged with murder for allegedly shooting a man to death in a McDonald’s parking lot in the Lincoln Square neighborhood Monday night.
Cordero H. Sims, 26, was charged with one count of first-degree murder early Friday for allegedly shooting and killing Irbinzon Gonzalez in the 4800 block of North Lincoln Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
Gonzalez, 25, was shot in the head about 7:30 p.m. in a dark-color BMW sedan in the McDonald’s parking lot in the 4800 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He was dead at the scene.
A police source said the shooting may have stemmed from a drug deal gone bad.
Sims, of the 1300 block of Normantown Road in Naperville, is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
