LaChris Hendricks was killed during an alleged shootout in the East Garfield Park neighborhood early Monday on the West Side.
Police believe Hendricks and a 30-year-old man shot each other during an exchange of gunfire about 12:15 am. Monday in the 2900 block of West Jackson Boulevard.
Officers found Hendricks, 32, in the street near South Sacramento Boulevard and West Adams Street, authorities said. He was shot in the chest, arm and hand, police said.
Paramedics took Hendricks to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 3:23 a.m. Monday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy confirmed Hendricks, of the 1200 block of West 48th Court in Cicero, died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The man in the vehicle was shot in the right leg and was driven to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said. He has not yet been charged for the shooting.
Officers recovered a weapon in the 2900 block of West Adams Street, police said.
Area North detectives are investigating.
