Deangelo Shelton was killed and another man was seriously wounded in an Austin neighborhood shooting early Saturday.
The two men were standing in the vestibule of an apartment building in the 300 block of North Central Avenue when a group entered about 1:25 a.m. Saturday and opened fire, police said.
Shelton, 26, of the 3800 block of West Arthington Street, was shot several times in the abdomen area and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The other man, 25, was shot once in the abdomen area and was initially taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in “guarded” condition, police said.
The gunmen fled after the shooting, police said.
Area North detectives are investigating.
