Daquon Renfro, Antonio Cox charged with killing Christopher Lang during attempted robbery near his Chicago Lawn home

Two men were charged with murder and attempted robbery Tuesday for allegedly fatally shooting Christopher Lang early Monday in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

Daquon E. Renfro, 19, and Antonio Cox, 20, each face one count of felony murder and attempted robbery with a firearm, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

Lang, 23, was walking on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of West 72nd Place just after midnight Monday when the men exited a dark-colored car and opened fire at him, authorities said.

Lang, of the 3500 block of West 72nd Place, was shot in the abdomen area and died at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 3:22 a.m., authorities said.

Renfro, of the 6000 block of South Wabash Avenue, and Cox, of the 8400 block of South Throop Street, are scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Wednesday.
