Natasha Green loved to braid hair, family said.

The 19-year-old affectionately known as “NaNa” to friends and family had a passion for working with hair — especially braids, said Kevin Moore, Green’s uncle.

“[Green was] your go to person if you were in need of having your hair done,” Moore said. “That was her passion.”

Green was shot in the head about 12:35 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 11700 block of South Eggleston Avenue, authorities said.

Green was walking with her boyfriend near her cousin’s West Pullman home when she was shot, said her mother, Latasha Green. The 23-year-old man was shot in the leg and survived the attack, police said.

Green was raised in south suburban Country Club Hills and attended Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Moore said.

“She liked making her own clothes, she was just different … just happy” Latasha Green said.

She loved music and Beyonce and Chief Keef were among her favorites.

“She loved to dance and sing,” Moore said.

“She didn’t understand what is going on in Chicago,” said Moore.

At least one of the cousin’s small children witnessed the shooting and ran to their father saying, “Daddy, Natasha is out there bleeding,” Moore said.

The cousin ran out of the house and held Green in his arms until paramedics took her to Roseland Hospital, Moore said. She was pronounced dead less than an hour later at the hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Her mother questioned why paramedics took her daughter to Roseland Hospital, which does not have a trauma center.

Area South detectives continue to investigate, but nobody has been charged in the murder.
