Tremaine Scott was fatally shot Friday night during a fight in the Chatham neighborhood.
Scott, 19, was walking with friends in the 8200 block of South Princeton Avenue when a male approached and started fighting about 7:05 p.m., police said.
The male who started the fight eventually pulled out a gun and shot Scott in the chest, authorities said.
Scott, of the 9300 block of South Calumet Avenue, was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 8:06 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
As news of Scott’s death spread, friends and relatives took to twitter to mourn:

No charges have been filed in the killing.
Area South detectives are investigating.
