Sixto Roman dies after Logan Square shooting

An Avondale area man shot early Saturday in the Logan Square community died from his injuries Tuesday afternoon.

Sixto Roman and another man, both 34, were shot while traveling in a light-colored car in the 3200 block of West Armitage Avenue about 12:45 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Roman, of the 3300 block of North Monticello Avenue, was shot twice in the head and was initially taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, authorities said. He died at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday at Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The other man suffered a graze wound to the head and treated at Stroger Hospital, authorities said.

The shooter opened fire from a light-colored SUV, police said. Nobody has been charged in the killing.

Area North detectives are investigating if the shooting was gang related.
