Phillip Allison was ordered held without bond Thursday for allegedly fatally shooting Deangelo Shelton in a December attack in the Austin neighborhood.

Allison, 35, of Missouri City, Texas, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder for the Dec. 14 shooting that killed Shelton and wounded another man, authorities said.

Two men were standing in the front vestibule of an apartment building in the 300 block of North Central Avenue when a gunman entered with several other people and opened fire about 1:25 a.m. Dec. 14, police said at the time.

Shelton, 26, 3800 block of West Arthington Street, was shot several times in the chest and died at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A 25-year-old was also shot in the abdomen area and initially taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

A no-bond warrant had been issued for Allison in February. Police said the U.S. Marshals Service in Houston arrested Allison and extradited him to Chicago on Monday.

Judge Donald Panarese Jr. enforced the no bond warrant during a Thursday court hearing and ordered Allison to appear again at a later date.
