Lewis Jenkins was killed and another man was seriously injured in a Wednesday afternoon shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Jenkins, 38, and his 40-year-old acquaintance were shot about 12:25 p.m. in the 700 block of North Springfield Avenue, authorities said. A friend drove both men to Norwegian-American Hospital, police said.
Jenkins, of the 1000 block of North Lockwood Avenue, was shot in the chest and died at the hospital at 12:40 p.m., authorities said.
The other man was also shot in the chest and was listed in serious condition, police said.
Police said both men are documented gang members.
Nobody has been charged for the murder.
Area North detectives are investigating.
