Vincent Simmons, 47, found stabbed and shot to death in East Garfield Park

Vincent Simmons was stabbed and shot to death Monday morning in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

Police found Simmons, 47, in a vacant apartment in the the 2800 block of West Arthington Street about 7:15 a.m. Monday, authorities said. He had been had been stabbed multiple times and shot in the head.

Officers also found a 43-year-old man who had been shot in the head and stabbed in the back, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Simmons, of the 2700 block of West Harrison Street, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area North detectives are investigating.
