Donald Williams was killed early Sunday in an Austin neighborhood shooting that left five females wounded.

The six were standing in a group near North Lavergne Avenue and West Ferdinand Street when several gunmen emerged from a nearby alley and opened fire about 12:30 a.m., police said.

Williams, 17, of the 3000 block of West Dickens Street, was shot in the back and died at Mount Sinai Hospital at 1:19 a.m., authorities said.

The other five people shot were all females.

Two teenage girls, 14 and 17, were shot in the buttocks and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. Two women, both 19, were also wounded. One was shot in the thigh and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the other was shot in the arm and showed up at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.

A 22-year-old woman was struck by several “bullet fragments” in her back, police said. She was taken to West Suburban Medical Center.

Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area North detectives are investigating.
