Derrick Bowens was fatally shot Thursday morning outside his Englewood home.
Bowens, 27, was shot about 9:50 a.m. Thursday in the 7000 block of South Morgan Street, authorities said.
He was standing outside his home when a black car pulled up and a passenger in the rear seat opened fire — striking him in the abdomen, police said.
Bowens died at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where at 7:04 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The vehicle sped off after the shooting and nobody is in custody for the murder, police said.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
