Sharon Bonds, 54, killed in hit and run; death ruled a homicide

A 54-year-old woman was intentionally struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in a fatal hit-and-run crash in the Calumet Heights neighborhood, authorities said.

Sharon Bonds was struck be a vehicle in the 9100 block of South Euclid Avenue about 5:30 a.m., authorities said. The motorist fled the scene after the crash and has not been charged, police said.

Bonds, of the 8800 block of South Oglesby Avenue, died at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy determined she died of multiple injuries from being struck by the vehicle and the death was ruled a homicide.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit and Area South detectives are investigating.
