Arthur Shanklin killed in Englewood shooting

Arthur Shanklin was shot to death in the Englewood neighborhood early Tuesday.

Shanklin, 32, was shot in the chest in the 6700 block of South Parnell Avenue about 1:20 a.m., authorities said.

Witnesses told officers they heard arguing then gunshots, police said.

Shanklin, of 1000 block of East 76th Street, died at the scene, authorities said. An autopsy determined he died from multiple gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The gunman ran away after the shooting, police said. Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area South detectives are investigating.
