Nabil Batroukh, 64, fatally shot during North Lawndale robbery attempt

A 64-year-old man was fatally shot during an attempted robbery early Saturday in the North Lawndale neighborhood, authorities said.

Nabil Batroukh was leaving a store in the 1500 block of South Lawndale Avenue when two males tried to rob him about 3 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

During the robbery, one of the attackers shot Batroukh in the chest, authorities said.

Batroukh, of the 7700 block of West 79th Street, later died at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Nobody has been charged for the murder.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
