William R. Gardner was charged with murder in the shooting death of 46-year-old Arron Feazell in the East Garfield Park neighborhood in May.

Feazell and a 17-year-old boy were shot in the 3300 block of West Maypole Avenue about 8:05 p.m. May 25, authorities said.

Feazell, of the 1400 block of South 10th Street in Maywood, was shot multiple times and was dead at the scene, authorities said.

The 17-year-old was initially taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital with gunshot wounds to both legs and his hand, police said.

When officers responded to the call of shots fired they saw an armed man near North Homan and West Maypole avenues, police said. A foot chase ensued that led to at least one officer firing a shot, but nobody was wounded by the gunfire from police.

Officers from the police Fugitive Apprehension Unit captured Gardner in Madison, Wis. and Gardner was charged with murder, attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault to a peace officer with a weapon, police said. He was also wanted on a warrant.

Gardner, 31, of the 4700 block of South Vincennes Avenue, is expected to appear in court for a bond hearing on Saturday.
