A 44-year-old Cicero man rehabbing a vacant West Englewood home was fatally shot during a Sunday evening robbery, police said.
Miguel Haro and another man were working at the home in the 7200 block of South Hermitage Avenue when two people walked up and announced a robbery about 5:40 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.
The robbers ordered both men to kneel at gunpoint, according to a police report. Haro’s acquaintance complied with the order, and the robbers took his money and cell phone then struck him with the gun.
When Haro did not obey the robbers’ demands they shot him in the head and ran away, according to the police report.
Haro, of the 3200 block of South 54th Avenue in Cicero, died at Holy Cross Hospital less than an hour later, authorities said.
Nobody has been charged for the murder.
Area South detectives are investigating.
