Ricardo Ruvalcaba was fatally shot during a Monday morning home invasion in the Clearing neighborhood.
Ruvalcaba, 18, was inside his home in the 5500 block of West 63rd Place when a group of people broke in and announced a robbery about 10:20 a.m., authorities said.
One of the robbers then shot Ruvalcaba in the chest and abdomen, authorities said. He died less than an hour later at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
At least one person was taken into custody, but nobody has been charged for the murder as of Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Area Central detectives are investigating if the shooting is gang related.
