Marrecus Garrett dies from Chicago Lawn shooting

Marrecus Garrett has died after being shot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood this month.

Garrett, 34, was shot multiple times about 8:45 a.m. Dec. 10 in the 6800 block of South Talman Avenue, police said.

Garrett, who lived on the block, initially took himself to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was declared dead at 6:51 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy confirmed Garrett died from multiple gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
